Our Story

Mockingbird Improv was founded on the need to play. With everyone isolated at home amid a worldwide pandemic, playfulness was slowly draining from our lives. But those of us who believe play, laughter, and connection are integral to being human did not give up hope.

A year after losing our old theater to the destruction of the pandemic, it was time to look towards reinventing ourselves as something new and hopeful and winged! We wanted to bring back the same great shows, classes and grow new and innovative programs. Mockingbirds are symbols of resilience and connection, and so it is on the back of these spirited birds that we once again take flight.

Like everything in Improv, the story cannot exist without the participation of its audience. Help be a part of our story by contributing to our efforts to get back in a theater again. Mockingbird Improv is a now a California Nonprofit with tax exemption 501(c)3 status. All donations are tax deductible.

Our Mission

Mockingbird Improv’s mission is to provide connection, joy, and opportunities for self-expression to the local community. We serve all parts of our community including youth and underserved individuals by engaging in high-quality training and performances and providing a supportive and empowering space for fun, silliness and growth through equitable, diverse and inclusive practices. Through our programs performers, patrons, and students can express creativity, build confidence, and cultivate joy through laughter and play.
