Meaningful Connection

“The thing I like most about the classes taught at Mockingbird Theater is how the exercises allow us to bypass the barriers that we’re conditioned to put up with strangers and give us a space to be ourselves in a positive and accepting environment. By participating in improv, you expose little quirks about your personality and life experiences, and that in turn gives you the courage to open yourself to others and create meaningful connections with your classmates.”

Working Together

“I signed up for the level 1 improv class thinking "I am going to do this" and by the middle of the second class I realized, no it's more like "WE are going to do this." We learned improv is about accepting what others give, building on it and offering it for others to create a much bigger whole. We figured out how to work together to make sense of even the nonsensical. We learned to not only embrace failures, but justify them into successes. We had a little fun somewhere in there as well.”

-Matt, Level 1 student

More Confidence

“In the hundreds of hours I've spent with Jackie and her improvisers I've learned so much about my own presence, honed the skills needed to truly listen and engage with your fellow improvers/friends/students, and developed so much confidence in my voice, instinct, and intuition.”

-Clint Smith
